About Us

Martin Healey Vehicle Adaptations was formed in 1992. The business was started by Martin Healey a short time after his wife was diagnosed with MS. He was inspired to start the business after experiencing the poor quality of adaptations available.

Since starting the business it has gone from strength to strength. We work throughout the whole of the North East and Cumbria, providing adaptation services as far afield as Penrith and Carlisle, and specialise in providing tailored adaptations to suit every need.

Not all suppliers and fitters think in the way that we do. We are proud to say we only fit fully crash tested Mobility Seats to your car and always ask for written confirmation that both the seat and plate have been fully crash tested. We are not driven by profit and for this reason we will never fit any adaptations that have not be vigorously safety tested and meet our high standards. Your safety is our primary concern.

We are passionate about the service we provide. As we have had personal experience of the difficulties in obtaining good services for our loved ones, we understand the challenges faced on a daily basis. We are proud to be able to assist in providing stress free motoring.

Services provided

We are a Motability approved centre, and therefore we can provide adaptations through the Motability scheme or on a private basis. We pride ourselves on the fact that all our customers receive the same high level of service.

Our assessments include a full evaluation of your needs, in depth support from our specialists, and a free driving assessment. This offers you the opportunity to get to know us, and experience the adaptations for yourself before making your choice.

All cars can be picked up and dropped of at your door or local garage. Don't want your new car driven? No problem, just ask for our covered vehicle transporter and this can be arranged at your convenience.

We now offer free driving assessments conducted by our highly qualified assessor, Daniel Cook. Daniel has many years of experience in his field and can provide familiarisation sessions to help make sure we fit the controls that best suit you. Daniel is Race Craft Instructor Qualified and conducts his assessments to the highest standard.
